Laura MARTIN,
née en 1971 à Strasbourg , racines franc-comtoires et suisse, conçue en Anatolie

12 ans de Clavecin au Conservatoire de Strasbourg, Cursus ART à l'Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts de Nancy,Enseignements de Jochen Gerz, Marc Pataut, Jean Luc Moulène. Résidences artistiques au Québec, à l'Académie Schloss Solitude de Stuttgart, à New Delhi, (bourse “Mission“ du Ministère des Affaires Etrangères : images utilisées par des ONG indiennes)

Sa qualité est d'être DANS LE MONDE et d'y produire des formes. c'est une militante du bonheur, celui qui tient au creux de la main, le bonheur des souffrances, pas celui des cartes bleues. Elle travaille les mots* et les images et ils le lui rendent bien. Elle parle d'elle mais elle sait aussi écouter.Elle voyage comme un poisson volant, de Strasbourg à désir, de Fès à New York, d'Intimité à Maison d'arrêt, de Citoyenne à Ivresse…

born in Strasbourg in 1971. Roots from Franche-Comté, switzerland, conception in Anatolie

Studied the harpsichord for 12 years at the Strasbourg Conservatoire. Studied fine art at the National Academy for Fine Art in Nancy, where she was taught by Jochen Gerz, Marc Pataut and Jean Luc Moulène. Artist in residence in Quebec, at the Schloss Solitude Academy in Stuttgart and in New Delhi (funded by the French foreign ministry. These photographs were used by NGOs in India)

Her greatest quality is that of being IN THE WORLD and of creating shapes there. She promotes happiness, in tiny things, in suffering, not the happiness of the credit card. She works with words* and images and they reward her generously. She talks about herself but also knows how to listen. She travels like a flying fish, from Strasbourg to desire, from Fès to New York, from intimacy to penitentiary, from citizenship to exultation...

Laura MARTIN
Élaborés dans le cadre des « recherches-projets » qu’elle mène en France ou à l’étranger sur des situations mettant à l’épreuve les conditions du lien social, les textes, les photographies et les installations construites par Laura Martin (née en 1971 à Strasbourg) au fil de ses rencontres avec des personnes impliquées par l’objet de son étude s’attachent, sous des formes parfois proches de la publicité ou des jeux « interactifs » mais avec un art attentif à la singularité des visages et des mots, à donner une très forte visibilité publique à l’universalité des aspirations individuelles au bonheur et à la solidarité.

The texts, photographs and exhibits which Laura Martin (born in Strasbourg in 1971) has produced as part of her research projects, in France and around the world, depicting situations which stretch social cohesion to the limit, punctuated by meetings with those involved in the object of her study, seek, in ways often mirroring advertising and video games, but with an art attentive to the uniqueness of faces and words, to bring clearly to light the universality of individual aspirations to happiness and solidarity.
